After the death of former Iranian leader Ali Khamenei in the early strikes of the conflict, Mojtaba Khamenei became the new Supreme Leader, increasing tensions with Washington and its allies.
The U.S. State Department’s “Rewards for Justice” program is offering up to $10,000,000 for credible information about Mojtaba Khamenei and other senior Iranian officials
Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has warned that Iran may launch attacks on American military bases across the region if they are not closed immediately. The statement, broadcast on Iranian state television, was his first public message since he assumed leadership after the assassination of his father, Ali Khamenei, on February 28 during the opening stage of the US-Israeli assault on Iran.
In the message, Khamenei also pledged that Iran would continue efforts to keep the strategic Strait of Hormuz closed, a move that could impact global oil supply routes.
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the Pentagon believes Khamenei may be in poor condition, but he did not provide evidence for the claim. Iranian authorities have not commented on the assessment.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump criticized the appointment of Iran’s new leader and suggested he could become a target similar to his father.
